Hellstar Is Covering a Y2K Style Adidas Sneaker in Its Signature Flames

Hellstar, one of the hottest young streetwear brands on the scene, has hitched its wagon to Adidas with several flame-covered Superstars and camo Anthony Edwards 2s releasing since the fall. A third model will soon enter the fray and continue the fiery look from the elder basketball sneaker.
The Hellstar x Adidas Megaride S2 features the springy pod cushioning from the 2000s and the neo-tribal flame style also popular in the same era. A white leather base is hit with flames on both side of its upper running in a gradient from grey to black and back to grey again. Megaride cushioning at the heel comes in a metallic silver, matching the Hellstar logo on the tongue.
Adidas debuted Megaride tech in 2004, and the mechanical cushioning style is widely viewed as a counter to Nike’s Shox. Concavities allow the pods to contract and expand to their original shape, absorbing and returning energy in the process.
Today, Megaride has been relaunched for lifestyle with several new models, including ones using the uppers of retro soccer boots. The Megaride S2 was born out of this modern wave and employs a zipper rather than laces as another retro bent.
Influencer and model Giovanna Ramos debuted Hellstar’s take on the Megaride while urging a release, and the Los Angeles-based streetwear brand has since reposted her photo to indicate it will likely oblige soon.
The Hellstar x Adidas Megaride S2 doesn’t yet have a release date but should arrive in the near future. Footwear News will keep you abreast of any updates.
