Pharrell and Adidas have played with a $500 super shoe and turned it into another running shoe concept that will go for double the price.

The Humanrace x Adidas Evolution Pro has been conceived of as a “design study” of the Pro Evo 1, a shoe that was introduced in 2023 and followed up by the Pro Evo 2 last spring with the same $500 price point. Pharrell’s new take on the silhouette is defined by “touch-reactive” elements broadly said to “create a sensory experience.”

Although more hasn’t been said on the experience, it immediately draws comparisons to Nike’s recently launch Mind franchise, which uses pressure points to induce senses of calm and focus before and after an athletic performance.

Lightstrike Pro foam is rendered with a wider sole, while the upper makes use of a mono-mesh material with a “5D” raised dot pattern. A clean white and black look defines the majority of the shoe, and a blue and green marbled print evokes the earth through portions of the outsole.

Adidas dominated the World Marathon Major circuit in 2025, as its race day shoes were worn by seven of the 12 winners in the men’s and women’s races. The Pro Evo 2 was worn by four of those winners, while the remainder turned to the Pro Evo 1. Only one other brand, On, was worn by two Major winners.

Both the Evo 1 and Evo 2 weigh 138 grams for a men’s size 9.5 to tie Adidas’ record for its lightest-ever running shoe. Despite coming in at the same weight, though, the Evo 2 features more cushioning.

Another Adidas hit, the Evo SL daily trainer, based its geometry on the Pro Evo 1. It, too, uses Lightstrike Pro foam, albeit without the carbon fiber plate that denotes it as a super shoe.

The Humanrace x Adidas Evolution Pro will release Jan. 24 through select retailers. Pricing is set at $1,000.
