Steve Madden Fixes Shoe Emergencies in Nostalgic Fall 2026 ‘Ask Steve’ Campaign

After years of fielding footwear-related questions, Steve Madden knows that picking out just the right pair of shoes can be a difficult task — so he’s here to help. His footwear brand is leaning into nostalgia with its fall 2026 campaign introducing the “Ask Steve” creative platform inspired by the late ’90s and early 2000s.

“People had more fun with fashion,” he said about the era and what was special about it. “It wasn’t so serious. You wore something because you liked it, not because someone on the internet told you it was cool. I miss some of that. But nostalgia can be lazy and boring sometimes. We’re not trying to recreate the past. It’s about that moment when you make a choice and it feels exhilarating and a little scary.”

With inspiration coming from the myriad shoe questions Steve Madden has received through the years and the enthusiastic reaction to his recent viral social media moments, “Ask Steve” welcomes customers to ask the founder for advice related to their “shoe emergencies.” The brand is launching an interactive toll-free hotline, 1-844-SHOE-411, allowing customers to call or text Madden for advice. He will directly respond to customers, and they can also unlock exclusive content including a downloadable wallpaper and additional digital experiences influenced by the fall collection.

His best shoe advice? “Wear the shoes that make you feel cool. If you have to think about it for too long, they’re probably not the right shoes.”

Steve Madden partner Delilah Belle is back for the “Ask Steve” campaign after starring in the summer 2026 “Bait & Switch” campaign and a social media miniseries showcasing festival styles through the recreation of famous album covers earlier in the year. For the newest campaign, Belle stars in a series of New York scenes — ranging from late-night taxi rides to chance sidewalk encounters to phone booth conversations — in which the right pair of shoes has the power to change everything.

Steve Madden’s new campaign highlights fall 2026 footwear and apparel collections, with key loafers, boots, heels and ready-to-wear blended with a downtown New York attitude. The hero film really leans into nostalgia with the appearance of the 1997 Big Heads, a tribute to one of the brand’s most famous advertising campaigns.

As for why the Big Heads are still so important to the brand, Madden said, “Because they were weird. Nobody else was doing anything like that. People thought we were crazy, but they remembered them, and they still come up to me decades later and talk about those ads. We might have a little more fun with them soon.”

In terms of the fall 2026 footwear lineup, the Steffi block-heel ballerina, Davina stiletto mule and Lennox slouchy boot are all key styles showcased in the campaign.

Christina Ciglar, chief product officer at Steve Madden, said of these silhouettes, “Steffi just dropped and has quickly become our office uniform, especially styled with capris. The soft leather and elevated take on the ballet flat make it the perfect shoe to transition into fall dressing. Davina is our pin heel that delivers attitude without sacrificing comfort, while Lennox is the bootie we’ll be living in all season, the relaxed slouch gives it that perfectly undone, ‘I don’t care’ attitude that feels so right for fall.”

On the men’s side, the Quincey loafer is highlighted. “The pleated, ruched penny loafer is arguably the most sought-after silhouette in men’s footwear today,” said Jake Frank, president of Steve Madden men’s. “Quincey represents the evolution of Steve Madden Men’s for Fall, offering a modern take on a timeless classic. It reflects the confidence, sophistication and contemporary edge today’s customer is looking for.”

The platform encompasses retail, digital, social media and out-of-home activations including tear-away street posters around New York City encouraging customers to “Ask Steve,” in addition to in-store installations, campaign merchandise and more interactive experiences. The fall 2026 campaign launches globally on Monday throughout Steve Madden stores, digital channels and international markets.
